Trump says Go to Hell DeathRowInmates

DONALD TRUMP

"Go to HELL" to Death Row Inmates Pardoned by Joe Biden

Donald Trump has taken aim at China and told death row prisoners whose sentences were reduced by President Joe Biden to "Go to HELL" in a lengthy Christmas message, in which he also doubled down on his desire to claim both the Panama Canal and Greenland for the United States.

In a message on Truth Social, the President-elect also slammed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau amid ongoing tensions in the nation’s government.

Mr Trudeau’s job is currently on the line after the surprise resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, who clashed with her boss over Mr Trump’s threats to impose 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian imports.

Mr Trump is making the most of the unrest – calling Mr Trudeau the “governor” of Canada and declaring that making the United States’s northern neighbour the 51st US state would be a “great idea”.

This past week, Mr Trump has also been ruffling feathers across the globe - declaring he would “take control” of the Panama Canal and Greenland to strengthen America’s foothold in key strategic areas.

On Tuesday, Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede was quick to shutdown Mr Trump’s interest - renewed from his first term as president, when he floated the idea of the US buying Greenland.

“Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom,” Mr Egede said in a statement.

“Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago),” Mr Trump said in his Christmas post.

“Also, to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60 per cent, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World.

Trump Wants Panama Canal Back

Donald Trump Wants The CANNAL BACK

"We AGREE"

I've been saying it for Year. Ever since Jimmy Carter gave it back."

Why SHOULD We. We BUILT IT !!! We OWNED IT .. We Should Have Kept it !!!

President-elect Donald Trump ran on a platform of isolating the US from foreign conflicts like the Ukraine war, increasing tariffs on foreign trade partners, and rebuilding domestic manufacturing.

But in recent days he has suggested a more outwardly aggressive approach for his foreign policy.

At first, he joked about Canada being an additional US state. Since, he has threatened to take back control of the Panama Canal. He also reiterated a desire from his first term to own the autonomous Danish territory of Greenland, which is not for sale

The US is unlikely to take control of any of these regions. But these statements could indicate that Trump's "America First" vision includes flexing the superpower's muscle beyond its borders for US trade and national security interests.

On Sunday, Trump told a conservative conference in Arizona that Panama was charging US ships "ridiculous, highly unfair" fees to use its namesake canal.

After taking charge of building the canal in the early 20th century, the US turned full control over to Panama in the 1970s via a treaty. But this week, Trump said that if the "rip off" did not stop, he would demand the canal be returned to the US – though he did not specify how.

Trump added he did not want the Panama Canal "falling into the wrong hands" and specifically cited China, which has significant interests in the waterway.

"There's a real US national security interest... in controlling its neutrality," Will Freeman, a fellow on Latin American studies at the Council on Foreign Relations, said of Trump's remarks.

"Trump's statement is mostly about that."

China is the second-largest user of the Panama Canal after the US, according to data. It has major economic investments in the country as well.

In 2017, Panama cut diplomatic ties with Taiwan and recognised it as part of China, a major win for Beijing.

The Panama Canal is not only essential for US trade in the Pacific, Mr Freeman said - in the event of any military conflict with China, it would be needed to move US ships and other assets.

He also noted Trump's frequent comments about trade partners' unfair treatment of the US, as well as the president-elect's pledge to sharply increase tariffs on foreign goods, particularly those from China.

Trump's complaints about shipping fees seemed to reflect his views on trade, Mr Freeman said.

While the statements might be "coercive", said Mr Freeman, it remained to be seen "whether canal authorities lower fees on US cargo in response to the threat".

Panama's President José Raúl Mulino has released a statement saying that the canal and the surrounding area belonged to his country - and would remain so.

Trump on Ellon Musk

ELLON MUSK with PRESIDENT ELECT DONALD TRUMP

President-elect Donald Trump dismissed any suggestion that he’s being usurped by his high-profile billionaire ally Elon Musk, coming off a week in which Musk helped derail an emergency spending measure to avert a government shutdown.

Trump said the notion that he has “ceded the presidency” to Musk is a fiction and that even if Musk wanted the job, he couldn’t get it because of the Constitution’s requirement that the U.S. president be a natural-born citizen. Musk was born in South Africa.

“No, he’s not going to be president, that I can tell you,” Trump said. “And I’m safe. You know why he can’t be? He wasn’t born in this country.”

Trump spoke for more than an hour Sunday at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, with thousands of conservative activists cheering wildly as he took the stage amid a pyrotechnic display. It was his first rally-style event since the election.

Smoke curled around the lectern and sparklers shot up from the floor as the crowd stood and cheered the incoming president, who wore his trademark suit and overlong red tie.

“Trump! Trump! Trump!” the audience chanted.

“The golden age of America is upon us,” Trump said.

In his remarks, Trump also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to meet with him “as soon as possible” and called for an end to the “horrible,” horrible” war between Russia and Ukraine.

During the campaign, Trump said he would bring a swift end to the war, using leverage and clout he believes he has attained with both Putin and Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Raising a different foreign policy issue, he reiterated a warning that he made on social media Saturday that Panama is charging excessive fees for use of the Panama Canal, the passageway between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

If Panama doesn’t relent, Trump said he would insist on retaking control of the canal, which the U.S. relinquished under a treaty that then-President Jimmy Carter signed in 1977.

“We’re being ripped off at the Panama Canal like we’re being ripped off everywhere else,” Trump said.

The president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, posted on social mediaSunday that the canal belongs to Panama and the sovereignty of the country is not up for negotiation.

"Every square meter of the Panama Canal and the surrounding area belongs to Panama, and will continue to," he said in his video message. "The sovereignty and independence of our country are non-negotiable. ... It's part of our history of struggle and an irreversible victory."

Trump also outlined a new plan for a campaign-style advertising blitz aimed at discouraging drug use.

“We are going to advertise how bad drugs are for you,” Trump said. “They ruin your look, they ruin your face, they ruin your skin. They ruin your teeth. If you want to have horrible teeth, take a lot of fentanyl.”

Trump’s appearance at the conference followed a tense standoff in Washington, D.C., over the past week that nearly caused a government shutdown.

Trump and Musk effectively scuttled Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson’s proposed emergency spending measure, forcing lawmakers to find an acceptable alternative that would keep the government running hours before the shutdown would have taken effect.

Musk, who owns the social media site X, posted more than 100 times about his objections to the original spending deal — a preview of how he may use his influence and his megaphone to shape policy in Trump’s second term.

Mockingly, Democrats have taken to calling him “President Musk.” History shows that anyone who upstages Trump or diverts attention from him doesn’t last long in his orbit.

Yet Trump’s remarks suggest that he doesn’t want a rift with Musk; for now, the two have shared interests. Musk spent more than $250 million to help get Trump elected.

After his victory, Trump tapped Musk to head a new nongovernmental office whose mission is to reduce government costs and inefficiencies. Looking ahead, Musk’s wealth could help keep Republicans in Trump’s fold. Any GOP lawmaker tempted to defy Trump may fear that the new president would orchestrate a primary challenge bankrolled by Musk.

Speakers at the conference downplayed any friction between Musk and Trump.

In a speech Thursday night, Donald Trump Jr., the president-elect’s eldest son, said: “You see what the media is trying to do to break up the relationship that my father has with Elon. They’re trying to cause that schism to prevent these guys doing what they’re going to do best, and we cannot allow that.”

Another speaker, Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., said in an interview with NBC News that Musk is filling an important role in helping eliminate government waste.

“We’re bringing in a consultant from the private sector to put a different set of eyes on what we’re spending money on,” Mullin said.

As for Musk’s use of his social media platform, Mullin said, “He has a right to do it. He’s still a private citizen. He’s no different than anyone else.”

Less than one month before the 45th president becomes the 47th, Trump seemed in a good mood. After summoning Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, to the stage, Trump scanned the crowd and didn’t see him at first.

“Is he here someplace? Ted? Ted?” Trump said. “Oh, oh, he’s in trouble.” At that, Cruz emerged from backstage and the two shook hands and embraced.

At another point, Trump heard a strange sound onstage. “What the hell was that?” he said. “You get the little yips up here every once in a while.”

Trump, who faced two assassination attempts during the campaign, added: “I wonder why."

Delmonico's New York

"DELMONICO'S"

DELMONICO'S

"AMAERICA'S OLDEST RESTAURANT"

In 1837, at the beginning of New York City’s evolution as the financial center of the world, the genesis of what would become a world-renowned culinary institution, Delmonico’s Restaurant, was set. A small shop selling classically prepared pastries, fine coffee and chocolate, bonbons, wines and liquors as well as Havana cigars was operated by the Delmonico brothers. Its success led them to purchase a triangular plot of land at the intersection of Beaver, William, and South William Streets where, in 1837, they opened the first fine dining restaurant in the country.

Delmonico’s offered an unheard-of luxury – the availability of private dining rooms (located on the third floor) where discriminate entertaining was the order of the day. The basement held the restauranteur’s treasure, the largest private wine cellar in the city, holding an impressive 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines. It was during these early years that Chef Alessandro Fellippini began to develop the restaurant’s culinary identity with the house special, Delmonico Steak.

Today, we continue to serve a prime cut of beef, prepared to the original specifications. It truly is the only authentic Delmonico Steak served in the United States. In 1862, Charles Ranhofer was named Chef de Cuisine inventing many original dishes during his time at our stoves. He is most noted for his innovative creations, Eggs Benedict, Baked Alaska, Lobster Newburg and Chicken A la Keene. These dishes remain on Delmonico’s menu today.

With a mission to make Delmonico’s Wall Street’s premiere fine dining Restaurant, the 56 Beaver Street location has been renovated to assume the opulence of its early years. Our welcoming portico remains supported by the original Pompeian pillars, our private dining rooms welcome the discreet, the wine cellar is filled to the rafters, and the cuisine, is, as promised in 1837, the finest the city has to offer.

"MAN of The YEAR"

"MAN of The YEAR"

President-elect Donald Trump has been named Time Magazine's Person (Man) of the Year, the magazine announced Thursday, after he became only the second president in U.S. history to lose reelection and then reclaim the White House four years later.

"Trump's political rebirth is unparalleled in American history," Time said in the announcement. The magazine spoke to Trump ahead of the announcement, in which he told them he called his comeback "72 Days of Fury."

Trump beat out a short list of finalists for the title that included Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump's billionaire ally Elon Musk, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Catherine, Princess of Wales, aka Kate Middleton. (Musk was Time's choice in 2021.)

Trump rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange in Manhattan to mark the occasion. It was the first time the real estate mogul-turned-politician has rung the bell, according to the Associated Press. Former first lady Melania Trump appeared alongside him in Manhattan.

Trump was also Time's Man of Yhe Year in 2016, when he upset Washington's expectations by defeating former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the presidency.

"This is an honor, a tremendous honor," Trump said Thursday. "And I have to say, Time magazine, getting this honor for the second time. I think I like it better this time, actually, but we did a good job."

Trump is only the second president to have non-consecutive terms in office, the other being Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s.

The magazine outlined Trump's comeback during the wild 2024 campaign: how he cleared the GOP field to clinch the nomination; spent three weeks in May in a New York courtroom before ultimately being convicted; survived two assassination attempts; consolidated support from Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Elon Musk; and overcame the swapping of the Democratic nominee.

"The election gave Trump political capital to address the sources of American discontent at home and abroad," Time's article said. "The question now is how he intends to spend it. By his own account, Trump will push the limits of presidential power and the law."

Trump told Time some of his plans for the upcoming administration, including defending his plan to use the military for mass deportations, not reintroducing family separation and planning to pardon people imprisoned for taking Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol "in the first hour ... maybe the first nine minutes."

Trump also told the magazine that he told former Rep. Matt Gaetz, Trump's first pick for attorney general who withdrew his name from consideration, that he didn't think "this is worth the fight."

Since 2000, Time has crowned the winner of the presidential race as the Person of the Year, giving it jointly to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in 2020. Former President Barack Obama won the title in 2008 and 2012, and former President George W. Bush held it as well in both 2004 and 2000. Bill Clinton took the title in 1993 and 1998 (sharing it with Kenneth Starr), George H.W. Bush in 1988, Ronald Reagan in 1980 and 1983 and Jimmy Carter in 1976.

Time has named a Person of the Year. Originally the honour was called Man of the Year) every year since 1927, nearly a century ago. The magazine describes the title as not necessarily an honor or an award, but rather, says it picks based on a person's influence and importance in a given year.

Prior to Carter, other presidents who held the title were Richard Nixon in 1971 and 1972, Lyndon Johnson in 1964 and 1967, John F. Kennedy in 1961, Dwight Eisenhower in 1959 (he had also won the title in 1944 as he led Allied forces in Europe during World War II), Harry Truman in 1945 and 1948, and Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932, 1934 and 1941.
